Salah Signs New Liverpool Contract as Club Breaks Age Policy to Keep Him
Mohamed Salah has officially extended his stay at Liverpool, putting an end to the buzz around his future.
The club confirmed the new deal on Friday, calming fears among fans as the 32-year-old’s previous contract was set to run out this summer.
Top clubs like PSG and several teams in Saudi Arabia had shown interest, but Salah has chosen to stay with the Reds, signing a two-year deal reportedly worth £380,000 a week.
Interestingly, this move sees Liverpool’s owners, Fenway Sports Group, bending a long-standing rule. They’ve typically avoided handing out new deals to players over 30, but Salah’s importance to the team clearly tipped the scales.
Sources say negotiations had dragged on for a while as Salah and his agent, Ramy Abbas, pushed for better terms. He had initially asked for a three-year extension, and while he didn’t get that, FSG still made an exception to keep their star man at Anfield.
