Ruud Gullit Backs PSG’s Desire Doue to Rival Yamal for Future Ballon d’Or

Former AC Milan and Chelsea icon Ruud Gullit has tipped PSG’s rising star Desire Doue as a future Ballon d’Or contender, putting him in the same conversation as Barcelona’s Lamine Yamal.
In a chat with NEKO Deportes, the Dutch legend said Doue has what it takes to rival Yamal for football’s top individual honor in the years ahead. Gullit’s comments come after watching both youngsters make major impacts for their clubs this season.
Despite PSG losing Kylian Mbappe last summer, Doue has stepped up impressively, helping the team retain their Ligue 1 crown. The 19-year-old has racked up 13 goals and 12 assists in 47 appearances so far, becoming a key figure in the French side’s attack.
With PSG already holding a slim lead over Arsenal after a 1-0 win in the Champions League semi-final first leg, another strong performance from Doue could raise his profile even higher—especially if they go on to lift the trophy.
Asked who besides Yamal could dominate the Ballon d’Or race over the next decade, Gullit replied, “That’s a tough one… but I really like Doue. He’s young, talented—it could be him.”
