Xabi Alonso Eyes Zubimendi and Wirtz for Real Madrid if He Replaces Ancelotti
Xabi Alonso is already setting his sights on two key signings if he becomes Real Madrid’s next manager, with Carlo Ancelotti expected to step down and take charge of Brazil. Currently steering Bayer Leverkusen, Alonso is seen as the top contender to lead Los Blancos this summer. And if he does, he’s reportedly keen on bringing in Martín Zubimendi and Florian Wirtz to shape his new-look squad.
Zubimendi, a reliable presence in Real Sociedad’s midfield, has long been monitored by Madrid’s scouting team. With Toni Kroos likely on his way out, the €60 million-rated Spaniard could bring the stability and control the midfield needs.
Wirtz, on the other hand, is Leverkusen’s creative engine and one of the hottest young talents in Europe. Securing the German star might cost as much as €100 million, especially with Bayern Munich also keeping a close eye on him.
