Arsenal winger Bukayo Saka has praised Barcelona’s teenage star Lamine Yamal, calling his performances “not normal.” The 17-year-old has left many in awe with his skill and impact on the pitch, and Saka is no exception. Despite being just a few months shy of his 18th birthday, Yamal has already racked up 100 appearances for Barcelona.

“He’s on another level. Honestly, what he’s doing at his age is unreal,” Saka told Sky Sports. “It’s not normal. I don’t think I’ve seen anything like it from a 17-year-old, so full credit to him.” Yamal was outstanding in Barcelona’s thrilling 3-3 Champions League semi-final draw against Inter Milan on Wednesday, showing maturity beyond his years.

At his age, Yamal has already outperformed legends like Lionel Messi and Cristiano Ronaldo at similar points in their careers. In 100 games, Yamal has contributed 49 goals and assists, while Messi had 55 by the time he reached that milestone, though he was almost 21. Meanwhile, a 19-year-old Ronaldo had just 26 goals and assists after his first 100 professional appearances.

“After the game, they said to us, ‘You have to leave immediately. We’ve been asked to get on a plane and return to our camp in Tijuana, and we are really troubled by that.’

“They are forcing us to go back early. They are making the situation more and more difficult, more hurdles, but we’re not going to let that stop us from doing our best.”
