The wait is finally over for fans of Squid Game, as the highly anticipated third and final season has officially landed on Netflix today, June 27th. The global hit Korean series, created by Hwang Dong-hyuk, returns with six intense episodes that promise to push the story to its most brutal and emotional point yet. According to Hwang, this season marks the conclusion of Seong Gi-hun’s journey, one filled with dark choices, pain, and personal sacrifice.

Viewers will once again follow Gi-hun, also known as Player 456, as he steps back into the deadly world of the Games. But this time, he’s not just there to survive; he’s determined to bring the twisted system crashing down. Actor Lee Jung-jae takes on the complex role once more, showing Gi-hun’s struggle with grief, revenge, and the hope of redemption. Season 3 introduces even more dangerous and disturbing games, each designed to test players in unimaginable ways. From a deadly version of Hide and Seek to a brutal game called Squid Game in the Sky, contestants are once again pushed to the edge of survival.

The emotional toll is heavier than ever, with the fate of familiar faces like Jun-hee, Geum-ja, and Hyun-ju hanging in the balance. In one of the most heartbreaking moments of the season, Gi-hun sacrifices himself to ensure the survival of Jun-hee’s child, known as “Baby 222.” Meanwhile, the plot takes a new twist as Inspector Jun-ho works behind the scenes to expose the secret facilities and operations behind the Games. By the final episode, characters like Player 246 and Guard 011 manage to escape.
