Liverpool have announced they will retire the number 20 shirt in honour of their late forward Diogo Jota. The club confirmed the decision on Thursday, saying the gesture is a lasting tribute to Jota’s impact at Anfield, especially his role in Liverpool’s Premier League triumph last season.

Jota, who passed away at 28 in a tragic car accident in Spain alongside his brother Andre Silva, played a crucial part in the Reds’ 2024–2025 title win, which marked their 20th league crown. One of his most memorable moments came in April, when his signature shimmy and finish secured victory in the Merseyside derby, the final goal of his career.
