KPOP Demon Hunters Takes Over Netflix and Music Charts Worldwide
Netflix’s latest animated movie KPOP Demon Hunters has taken over both the charts and the internet just weeks after its release on June 20. The movie has quickly become a fan-favorite for K‑Pop lovers and animation fans, combining catchy music with an action-packed storyline.
The fictional soundtrack from the film, featuring songs by characters Rumi, Mira, Zoey, and the popular in-movie groups HUNTR/X and the Saja Boys, has made history on the charts. It debuted at number 8 on the Billboard 200 and quickly shot to number 3 the following week. This makes it the highest-ranking animated soundtrack since Barbie, with millions of streams pouring in across platforms.
On top of that, the album climbed to number 1 on the Billboard Soundtrack chart, while also dominating Apple Music and iTunes charts worldwide. Fans across Europe, Asia, and the Americas have been streaming the songs non-stop.
Your Idol, performed by the fictional Saja Boys, has become the highest-charting song by a male K‑Pop act on Spotify’s U.S. chart, even outperforming groups like BTS. Golden, a track by HUNTR/X, landed at number 3 on the same chart, tying the record for the best position by a female K‑Pop group, alongside Blackpink.
Other songs like How It’s Done, Takedown, Free, and Soda Pop also made their way into Spotify’s U.S. Top 100. The track Golden alone has gathered over 7 million streams and secured spots on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Global 200.
