“Remains the Only” – Davido Brags After Topping Spotify Nigeria’s Top 16 For Two Days Straight
Afrobeats superstar Davido recently shared his pride after maintaining his remarkable achievement as the only artist to hold all 16 spots on the Spotify Nigeria Daily Top Songs Chart for two consecutive days, even with the release of Wizkid’s much-anticipated new album, Morayo.
Wizkid’s Morayo album made waves on Spotify, breaking numerous records upon its release.
However, despite the album’s success, none of its tracks were able to secure a spot in the top 16 for two straight days, a feat that Davido had previously set with his critically acclaimed album Timeless in 2023.
Following this, music analytics platform The Data Dash showed Davido’s record on X (formerly Twitter), pointing out that the singer remains the only artist to achieve this remarkable feat.
“@davido remains the only artist to occupy the Top 16 spots on the Spotify Nigeria Daily Top Songs Chart for 2 consecutive days, with all new songs from his album Timeless,” the post read.
In his signature confident style, Davido shared the post with a simple but powerful message: “Remains the only!”
This achievement is another testament to Davido’s dominance in the African music scene.
Timeless, which was released in 2023, continues to be a major player in global music charts, with Davido’s distinct blend of Afrobeats, pop, and Nigerian sounds resonating with fans both locally and internationally.
Wizkid’s Morayo album, which broke several Spotify records, is his latest contribution to the music world.
Known for his smooth vocals and chart-topping hits like Essence and Ojuelegba, Wizkid remains a key figure in the Afrobeat revolution, alongside Davido.
While both artists have their unique sound and fan base, the competition between them continues to fuel discussions about who is truly the top star in African music.

“Surviving in Nigeria is Tough, Which Gives Artists a Hustler Mentality” – Tiwa Savage
Afrobeats artist Tiwa Savage recently opened up about the reasons behind the abundance of talented entertainers emerging from Nigeria, attributing it to the tough economic conditions many face in the country.
During an appearance on the Shopping The Sneakers podcast, the renowned singer highlighted the hardships in Nigeria and how they push young people to tap into their creative abilities as a means of survival.
Savage shared her perspective, stating, “If you visit Nigeria, you’ll begin to understand why we produce so many superstars.
Surviving here is no easy feat, and that’s why the artists who rise from Nigeria have this hustler mentality.
They’re constantly grinding, trying to make a name for themselves and get ahead.”
Nigeria, a country in West Africa, has long been a powerhouse in the entertainment industry.
It boasts the continent’s largest movie, music, comedy, and fashion sectors, which have gained recognition worldwide.
Nigerian artists, including Tiwa Savage, Burna Boy, Wizkid, and Davido, have become global icons, pushing the boundaries of Afrobeats and taking African music to international audiences.
The Nigerian film industry, Nollywood, is another success story. It ranks as the second-largest movie industry globally, just behind India’s Bollywood.
Nollywood churns out thousands of films every year, catering to a growing global demand for African content.
The industry has created numerous opportunities for filmmakers, actors, and producers, turning Nigerian cinema into a thriving market that continues to break records and attract attention on global platforms like Netflix.
In recent years, Nigeria’s fashion and comedy scenes have also witnessed a boom, with rising stars in the fashion world and comedians gaining recognition beyond the borders of the country.
Platforms like Instagram and YouTube have allowed Nigerian comedians and fashion designers to reach wider audiences, making waves in the international scene.
Despite the challenges many Nigerian entertainers face, including limited resources and access to infrastructure, they continue to rise above the odds.
This resilience and determination are what make Nigerian creatives some of the most hardworking and innovative in the world.
The culture of hustling to survive, as Tiwa Savage explains, drives these individuals to push their limits and consistently produce work that resonates with people worldwide.
