Nigerian Actor Gabriel Afolayan Highlights Role of Criticism in Film Industry
Nigerian actor, Gabriel Afolayan, shares that criticism is necessary in order for the film industry and its actors to progress.
During a recent interview, the actor said, “Criticism is needed. How do we get better if people are not ready to talk about what we are doing? Both the audience and filmmakers have to come together.”
He then spoke on the progress of Nollywood, sharing his belief that the industry is truly great but also depends on the audience. When they share their criticism, only then can one know if the film was as good as they thought it was.
“Even if you believe you’ve made a great film, until an audience watches it and decides whether it’s good or not, nothing else really matters. I feel our audience is ready for everything we have to give them.”
