Atiku Says Becoming President Is Not a Do or Die Affair but Rescuing Nigeria Matters More
Former Vice President Atiku Abubakar has dismissed claims that he is desperate to become Nigeria’s president. Speaking on Saturday, Atiku said his focus is not on personal ambition but on the need to rescue the country from its present state. He was reacting to those who believe he should step aside for younger politicians.
The 2023 presidential flag bearer of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who has often faced criticism over his repeated attempts at the presidency, stressed that his desire to contest has never been about desperation. Atiku made the remarks through Prof. Ola Olateju while serving as guest speaker at an event in Lagos State, where some leaders of the PDP and Labour Party officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
He explained that his vision is to build a country Nigerians everywhere would be proud of, noting that leadership should be about service and progress, not personal gain. “It is not about Atiku having to be president at all costs,” he said.
He also described the ADC as more than just a political party, but a growing movement of Nigerians determined to end poor governance and set the nation on the path of growth and greatness.

Isaac Fayose Criticizes Government Over Taxation and Insecurity
Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has spoken about what he considers one of the country’s biggest problems, stating that many Nigerians are worried about government taxation, insecurity, and the increasing rate of kidnappings for ransom.
He lamented the situation and criticized the government, arguing that these issues have become deeply rooted and that there appears to be no lasting solution in sight.
According to him “In Nigeria we have two governments. One is collecting tax, the other one is collecting ransom. Both of them have one thing in common which is to make life difficult for their people.
The one that is collecting tax without doing anything will come and share you rice and semolina. The one that is collecting ransom is doing giveaway on social media.”
