Rooney tells Amorim to Start Winning Games or the Pressure Will Get Worse
Former Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has told current boss Ruben Amorim that the time for excuses is over, stressing that results must start coming this season.
United’s 1-1 draw against Fulham on Sunday stretched their winless run in the Premier League, despite splashing over £200million on summer signings including Benjamin Sesko, Matheus Cunha, and Bryan Mbeumo.
With fans expecting more after last season’s disappointing 15th-place finish, Rooney says Amorim is already under pressure following a home defeat to Arsenal and the dropped points at Craven Cottage.
“There’s no excuses now for the manager this season. He’s got to start getting results and getting them quickly,” Rooney said on his BBC podcast, adding that if form doesn’t improve by October or November, the pressure will only intensify.
