Chippa United goalkeeper Stanley Nwabali faces doubt over his availability for Nigeria’s upcoming 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifiers against Rwanda and South Africa due to injury.

The 29-year-old was stretchered off in the 35th minute during Chippa United’s South African Premier Soccer League match against Richards Bay on Tuesday night.

Nwabali now has a race against time to recover in time for Nigeria’s crucial games against the Amavubi and Bafana Bafana. He was recently named in the Super Eagles’ 31-man provisional squad for the qualifiers.

Other goalkeepers in the squad include Adebayo Adeleye, Amas Obasogie, and Ebenezer Harcourt. Nigeria is set to face Rwanda on September 6 and South Africa on September 10.
