Agbonlahor Calls Man United’s Šeško a Coward For Delaying His Penalty
Former Aston Villa forward Gabriel Agbonlahor has slammed Manchester United’s new signing Benjamin Šeško, branding him a coward after the club’s Carabao Cup exit to Grimsby Town.
United were knocked out by the League Two side on penalties after fighting back from two goals down to draw 2-2. The shootout ended 12-11, with several United players missing their efforts, including new arrival Cunha and Bryan Mbeumo.
Šeško, however, only stepped up as the 10th taker, after almost every other outfield player had already taken theirs, something Agbonlahor believes showed a lack of confidence.
Speaking on talkSPORT, the former England striker mocked the Slovenian forward, saying a team’s main striker should be among the first to step forward, not hiding until the end.
“How can your star striker let all the defenders take their penalties before him, then finally step up when the pressure is almost over?” Agbonlahor said. “For me, that’s cowardly.”
