Charly Boy Criticizes Deji Adeyanju Over Bribery Claims Against Peter Obi
Entertainer and social critic Charles Oputa, better known as Charly Boy, has taken a swipe at activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju over his recent claims against former presidential candidate Peter Obi.
Adeyanju had alleged that Obi once tried to bribe him during the 2023 presidential campaign, saying the Labour Party flagbearer invited him for a discussion and later handed him a brown envelope of money, which he claimed to have rejected.
Reacting to the allegation, Charly Boy dismissed it as a blatant lie and warned Adeyanju not to drag Obi’s name through the mud. He accused the activist of chasing clout and working for selfish interests, saying Adeyanju could easily sell out for “30 pieces of silver.”
Sharing his thoughts in Pidgin on X, the self-styled Area Fada said Obi remains one of the few politicians who still give Nigerians hope for a better country, unlike Adeyanju who, according to him, has reduced himself to an errand boy for money-driven politics.
He cautioned that such “reckless and irresponsible behavior” could land Adeyanju in legal trouble, stressing that the struggle is for a new Nigeria and not for clout-chasing.

“Rather than play the ostrich and cover up clear terrorism as mere farmer-herder clashes, the Nigerian state has a responsibility to invade the camps of armed marauders who hide under the cloak of herdsmen of whatever ethnicity, and who invade defenceless communities and gleefully massacre unarmed men, women and children.”
