Troost-Ekong says Lookman is ready for Super Eagles World Cup qualifier against Rwanda
Super Eagles captain William Troost-Ekong has shed light on Ademola Lookman’s mood in camp as Nigeria gears up for their World Cup qualifiers, despite the disappointment of his failed transfer to Inter Milan.
Ekong revealed that the Atalanta winger has stayed positive and is fully focused on the upcoming matches. Lookman was left frustrated during the summer window after Atalanta blocked his move to the Serie A giants, but his determination has not wavered.
Speaking at Friday’s pre-match press conference, Ekong praised his teammate’s resilience. “The transfer window is always tricky, especially with the amount of talent in this squad. We’ve all supported Lookman throughout. The coach even called him the best player in Africa, and from what I’ve seen, he looks even hungrier to deliver,” he said.
Nigeria faces Rwanda in Oyo on Saturday in a must-win qualifier that could keep their slim World Cup hopes alive. Much will rest on Lookman’s shoulders, as the team looks to his consistency and energy to inspire them in the decisive clash.
