Total Lunar Eclipse Will Turn the Moon Red Around the World
Tonight, the night sky will host a rare and breathtaking show, a total lunar eclipse, often called a Blood Moon. During this event, the Earth lines up perfectly between the Sun and the Moon, blocking direct sunlight. Instead of disappearing, the Moon takes on a deep red glow as light bends through Earth’s atmosphere. This is what gives it that fiery, otherworldly look people call the Blood Moon.
The Moon will stay fully covered in Earth’s shadow for about 82 minutes. This makes it one of the longest total eclipses in recent years. It’s not something you get to see often, and that’s why sky watchers across the world are excited.
This time, the eclipse can be seen clearly across much of Asia, Africa, Europe, and Australia. In some places like the U.S., people won’t get the full view, but they can still watch live streams online. The peak moment of the eclipse comes around 18:11 UTC, when the Moon will be at its deepest shade of red.
For people hoping to catch it, the best way is simple: find a clear open spot away from city lights, look up, and enjoy the slow transformation. No special gear is needed, but binoculars or a camera can make the view even better.
It has been reported that Bola Ahmed Tinubu was absent at the commissioning of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge, which took place on April 8, 2026.
However, Senate President Godswill Akpabio represented the President and carried out the ceremony.
As he commissioned the project, he stated “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I commission these projects.”
Residents of Lagos should prepare for traffic disruptions as several roads will be closed due to the visit of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is set to commission infrastructural projects.
The commissioning will take place on April 8 and 9, 2026.
Affected areas on Wednesday (April 8):
Opebi, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Ojota, and Victoria Island.
Affected areas on Thursday (April 9):
Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and Ajegunle.
Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and expect heavy traffic during these periods.
