Eguavoen urges Super Eagles to defeat South Africa to stay in world cup race
Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) technical director, Augustine Eguavoen, has made it clear that the Super Eagles cannot afford to lose when they face Bafana Bafana of South Africa in their next World Cup qualifier.
The Super Eagles boosted their campaign with a 1-0 victory over Rwanda’s Amavubi in Uyo last Saturday, but they remain six points behind South Africa in Group C. A win in Bloemfontein would cut that gap to just three points and keep Nigeria firmly in the race for a spot at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.
Eguavoen admitted that while South Africa are a strong side deserving of respect, Nigeria’s only target is victory. “This is a massive game. We really have no choice, Nigeria has no choice. We respect South Africa, but we are going for the three points, simple as that,” he told FARPost.
Liverpool have released a list of players who are confirmed to leave the club this summer.
The list includes star players Mohamed Salah, Andy Robertson, and Ibrahima Konaté. While some players are leaving, others have been offered new contracts.
The players who have been offered fresh terms include Kyle Kelly, Afolami Onanuga, Oliver O’Connor, Lucas Pitt, Ben Trueman, Matthew Wright, Prince Cisse, and Keyrol Figueroa.
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen has urged Ademola Lookman to consider a move to Galatasaray.
It can be noted that Lookman recently completed a transfer to Atlético Madrid, and since then, many European clubs have shown interest in the player.
Osimhen then shared an encouraging message to the player, stating that he would be welcome at Galatasaray.
“We are waiting for you at Galatasaray. Come and be a part of this family.”

It can be noted that the FIFA World Cup will begin on Thursday and will be co-hosted by the USA, Mexico, and Canada.
The player picked Lionel Messi to score more goals than Ronaldo during the tournament.
