Galatasaray fans criticizes Rwandan defender for injuring Osimhen during WCQ
Nigerian striker Victor Osimhen was at the center of drama during the World Cup qualifier between Nigeria and Rwanda after a harsh tackle forced him out of the game. The incident has now caused anger among Galatasaray supporters, who blame the Rwandan defender for injuring their star man.
The injury happened in the first half when Osimhen clashed with defender Claude Niyomugabo inside the box. He went down clutching his ankle and couldn’t continue, leading to his substitution before halftime. Frustrated, Osimhen confronted the Rwandan player during the break, but the defender quickly apologized as coaches and teammates stepped in to calm the situation.
Reactions spilled onto social media immediately, with many Galatasaray fans attacking Niyomugabo for what they described as a reckless challenge. To them, Osimhen is not just a Nigerian forward but a key player for their club in Turkey, and any injury to him is seen as a major blow.
Former Super Eagles coach Samson Siasia also weighed in, saying Rwanda’s defenders seemed determined to stop Osimhen at all costs because of the problems he was causing them. He suggested the foul may not have been accidental but a tactical move to silence Nigeria’s main threat.

The award followed his impressive performance in the Bundesliga.
