NFF Hails Nnadozie as First Nigerian Woman Nominated for Ballon d’Or
The Nigeria Football Federation (NFF) has hailed Super Eagles goalkeeper Chiamaka Nnadozie after her historic achievement at the 2025 Ballon d’Or awards.
Nnadozie made headlines on Monday night after finishing fourth in the Women’s Goalkeeper of the Year category. This is a title that went to Chelsea and England shot-stopper Hannah Hampton. Her nomination alone was historic, as she became the first Nigerian ever shortlisted for the prestigious award.
In a statement issued by its General Secretary, Dr. Mohammed Sanusi, on Tuesday, the NFF praised Nnadozie’s performance and expressed confidence that she has what it takes to eventually win the prize.
“Congratulations to our Super Falcons safe hands, Chiamaka Nnadozie, on her fourth-place finish at this year’s Ballon d’Or ceremony,” the statement read. “It’s a remarkable feat, considering the world-class competition she faced. We believe this is only the beginning, and she will soon lift the trophy.”
