Chelsea to Play Without Palmer Fofana and Tosin for Brighton Game
Chelsea boss Enzo Maresca has confirmed that three key players will not be available for Saturday’s Premier League meeting with Brighton.
Cole Palmer is the biggest name on the list, with the forward set to spend around three weeks on the sidelines after picking up a groin injury. Palmer, who has only managed two league starts this season, lasted just 21 minutes in Chelsea’s last outing against Manchester United before being withdrawn.
Speaking ahead of the game, Maresca explained the decision to rest him: “We felt it was better not to risk Cole and allow the injury to get worse. The plan is to give him two to three weeks, hopefully he’s ready after the international break.”
The Blues will also be without defenders Tosin Adarabioyo and Wesley Fofana. According to Maresca, Tosin has a calf problem that will likely keep him out until the international break, while Fofana is still recovering from a concussion he suffered in the Carabao Cup clash with Lincoln.
Aside from those absences, the manager noted that the rest of the squad is fit and available for the Brighton game.
