Tinubu Appoints Jega to Lead Livestock Reforms Committee
President Bola Tinubu has appointed Professor Attahiru Jega, former Chairman of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), as co-chair of a committee tasked with overseeing livestock reforms in Nigeria. The announcement was made by presidential spokesman Ajuri Ngelale during the inauguration of the Presidential Committee on Implementation of Livestock Reforms at the presidential villa in Abuja.
Tinubu emphasized Jega’s pivotal role in coordinating the committee, which aims to tackle challenges hindering agricultural productivity and create new opportunities across the livestock-farming value chain for farmers, herders, processors, and distributors.
Highlighting the need for collaborative efforts, Tinubu called upon committee members from both the public and private sectors, state governors, and the Nigerian public to actively engage in implementing these reforms. He stressed the importance of addressing obstacles to agricultural growth and ensuring that the reforms benefit all stakeholders involved in the livestock sector.
