Nobel Laureate Prof. Wole Soyinka has harshly criticized Donald Trump, the Republican candidate for the US presidency, labeling him as a masterful deceiver and a significant threat to global stability.

In a recent interview with TheNEWS, which coincided with celebrations marking Soyinka’s 90th birthday, the renowned playwright and poet expressed his profound disapproval of Trump.

Soyinka highlighted Trump’s skill in manipulating public perception, noting that Trump’s understanding of the American psyche allowed him to effectively tap into emotions and beliefs to garner support.

Soyinka remarked, “Trump’s ability to comprehend and exploit the American mindset has been instrumental in shaping his influence, enabling him to convince people to believe his statements, regardless of their veracity.”

Soyinka went on to emphasize that, in his view, Trump represents an unprecedented level of dishonesty in the political arena. He asserted that the world has rarely seen someone who can lie as convincingly as Trump does.
