Plateau Police Arrest TikToker for Inciting Violence Ahead of Protest
The Plateau State Police Command has made the arrest of a TikTok user, Suleiman Yakubu, who is accused of making threats of violence against security forces in connection with the upcoming nationwide protest.
According to the police, Yakubu, who operates under the TikTok handle “Dam-Mallam68,” is alleged to have posted a video in which he incited violence against law enforcement and called for the destruction of essential state and private infrastructure in Plateau State as part of the planned demonstrations on August 1.
A statement released on Sunday by DSP Alfred Alabo, the command’s spokesperson, revealed that Yakubu was apprehended at Ahmadu Bello Way in Jos, thanks to information provided by a reliable informant.
During questioning, Yakubu admitted to being the individual featured in the viral video.
In response to this incident, the Commissioner of Police emphasized the commitment of the force to preventing any attempts by individuals seeking to disrupt peace and stability in the state.
The Commissioner underscored the importance of maintaining order before, during, and after the protest.
CP Emmanuel Olugbemiga Adesina has urged the residents of Plateau State to adhere to the law and avoid making statements that could undermine public peace and safety.
The police are dedicated to upholding law and order and will take necessary measures to ensure that the state remains calm and secure.
