In response to Governor Abiodun’s speech, 63-year-old Micheal Ajala, one of the 160 graduating PhD students and president of the postgraduate class, encouraged the youths to speak up and demand good governance, particularly at the state level.

Ajala emphasized the need for scrutiny beyond the presidency, saying, “This country is always shouting the name of our president, nobody is talking about the governors. We must query our governors and chairmen of councils, we must ask questions. We voted for them, they are responsible for us.”

He urged the audience to actively participate in governance and hold elected officials accountable, asserting, “Don’t stand on the sideline, be a true Nigerian. When you elect somebody to serve you, that person is supposed to be a servant.” Ajala’s remarks were met with a standing ovation from the crowd.
