Ancelotti Hints at Mbappe’s Debut in UEFA Super Cup
Real Madrid manager Carlo Ancelotti has indicated when Kylian Mbappe might make his debut for the club.
Although Mbappe was officially introduced to fans at the Bernabeu on July 16 following his transfer from Paris Saint-Germain, he has not yet featured in Real Madrid’s pre-season matches.
Mbappe was absent from the squad for Real Madrid’s 2-1 loss to Barcelona in an El Clasico friendly and may also miss the upcoming exhibition against Chelsea in North Carolina.
However, Ancelotti expects Mbappe to make his first appearance for Los Blancos in the UEFA Super Cup final against Atalanta on August 14.
“Mbappe could definitely start in the Super Cup,” Ancelotti told Mundo Deportivo. “Jude Bellingham and others are also ready, having followed the preparation plan and will be included in the match.”
Real Madrid’s outgoing manager Carlo Ancelotti has sent a clear message to Barcelona following their LaLiga title win this season. While he acknowledged that Barcelona played well and fully deserved the championship, Ancelotti warned that next season will not be the same.
Speaking about the season, the 65-year-old praised Hansi Flick’s Barcelona for their quality football and solid performance. “Barcelona did very well this season. They played good football and deserved to win the league,” he said.
However, Ancelotti was quick to add that things will change in the upcoming season, hinting at a tougher challenge ahead for the Catalan club. Ancelotti is set to leave Real Madrid soon to become the head coach of Brazil’s national team.
Before he departs, he will manage Madrid in two final matches against Sevilla and Real Sociedad. The Italian coach leaves Real Madrid as the club’s most successful manager, having won 15 trophies across two spells.
Liverpool’s Mohamed Salah has publicly encouraged Kevin De Bruyne to consider joining the Reds this summer. De Bruyne is set to leave Manchester City when his contract expires in June, and he has hinted that he’s open to playing for another Premier League club. While there’s been talk of interest from Major League Soccer in the US, Salah made it clear that Liverpool would welcome the Belgian midfielder with open arms.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Salah praised De Bruyne’s career and his impact on English football. “I want to say congratulations on an incredible career,” Salah said. “He’s done amazing work at City and has been a key player for the league.” With Liverpool now Premier League champions, fans will be eager to see if De Bruyne takes up Salah’s invitation and joins the fight at Anfield.
Al-Nassr coach Stefano Pioli has revealed why captain Cristiano Ronaldo missed their Saudi Pro League match against Al-Taawoun on Friday. Ronaldo was sidelined due to a cold as Al-Nassr settled for a 1-1 draw at home. Otávio and R. Martínez scored to earn a point for both teams at Al-Awwal Park.
After the game, Pioli explained that Ronaldo’s absence was health-related. Al-Nassr currently sit fourth in the league with 64 points from 32 matches, having already missed out on the title after Al-Ittihad were crowned champions. Their next fixture is against Al-Khaleej on Wednesday.
