President Tinubu Hosts Emergency Security Council Meeting Amid FEC Cancellation
President Bola Tinubu is currently convening a high-level Security Council meeting at the Presidential Villa.
This crucial gathering, which began at 2:00 pm, brings together key figures in Nigeria’s security apparatus.
Present at the meeting are the Vice President Kashim Shettima, the National Security Adviser to the President, all Service Chiefs, the Inspector General of Police, and the Comptroller Generals of Customs and Immigration.
Additionally, the Chief of Staff to the President is also in attendance.The meeting aims to provide an update on the current security situation across the nation, with each participant expected to brief the President on their respective areas of responsibility.
In a related development, the Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting scheduled to take place at the Presidential Villa was abruptly canceled.
This meeting, initially planned for the Council Chamber, was anticipated following President Tinubu’s national address on Sunday, which sought to address the ongoing #EndBadGovernance protests.
No explanation has been given for the sudden cancellation of the FEC meeting.
It has been reported that Bola Ahmed Tinubu was absent at the commissioning of the Opebi-Mende Link Bridge, which took place on April 8, 2026.
However, Senate President Godswill Akpabio represented the President and carried out the ceremony.
As he commissioned the project, he stated “On behalf of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, I commission these projects.”
Residents of Lagos should prepare for traffic disruptions as several roads will be closed due to the visit of Bola Ahmed Tinubu, who is set to commission infrastructural projects.
The commissioning will take place on April 8 and 9, 2026.
Affected areas on Wednesday (April 8):
Opebi, Allen Avenue, Ikeja, Ojota, and Victoria Island.
Affected areas on Thursday (April 9):
Lekki-Epe Expressway, Ikoyi, Victoria Island, and Ajegunle.
Motorists are advised to plan alternative routes and expect heavy traffic during these periods.
