Damilare Olaiya Criticizes Colleagues, Vows to Fight for Better Nigeria
Nollywood actor Damilare Olaiya has accused colleagues who supported President Bola Tinubu’s administration of hiding to avoid backlash from Nigerians. During an interview at the Gani Fawehinmi Park in Ojota, Lagos, amid the #EndBadGovernance protest, Olaiya expressed his readiness to “die if need be” for a better future for his descendants. He joined the protest to voice grievances against poor governance, corruption, and the rising cost of living, accusing the government of sponsoring thugs during the 2020 #EndSARS protest.
Olaiya emphasized the need to end bad governance, noting that Nigeria’s problems are solvable with better leadership. He criticized veteran Nollywood actresses who supported the government, stating they are now avoiding public scrutiny. Olaiya affirmed his long-standing commitment to the struggle, from his youth to his current status as a grandfather, and his willingness to sacrifice his life for the cause. He also highlighted the peaceful nature of the protest and condemned the government’s past actions against demonstrators, asserting his dedication to fighting for his children’s and grandchildren’s future.
