STS Arrests Woman for Concealing AK-47 and Magazines in Sack of Garri
A 30-year-old woman named Hauwa Yusuf has been apprehended by operatives from the Special Tactical Squad (STS) for concealing an AK-47 rifle and four AK magazines within a sack of garri. Yusuf was detained during a routine stop-and-search operation along the Abuja-Kaduna Expressway.
According to Muyiwa Adejobi, the Force spokesperson, Yusuf was brought in for questioning at the STS headquarters in Abuja on Friday.
Adejobi explained that Yusuf admitted to being tasked by a notorious bandit, Aminu Basullube, who is known for his criminal activities in Katsina State. Basullube had instructed her to pick up the firearms in the Danum Madam Camp area of Katsina State.
On August 14, 2024, acting on credible intelligence, STS operatives intercepted Yusuf while she was travelling from Lafia, Nasarawa State, to Katsina State. She was on board a Sienna bus when she was stopped.
A thorough search revealed the AK-47 rifle, which lacked a breach number, and four AK magazines hidden inside the white sack of garri she was carrying.
During the interrogation, Yusuf disclosed that Basullube had orchestrated the delivery of these weapons to her, underscoring the ongoing efforts of law enforcement to combat arms trafficking and criminal activities in the region.

Isaac Fayose Criticizes Government Over Taxation and Insecurity
Nigerian businessman Isaac Fayose has spoken about what he considers one of the country’s biggest problems, stating that many Nigerians are worried about government taxation, insecurity, and the increasing rate of kidnappings for ransom.
He lamented the situation and criticized the government, arguing that these issues have become deeply rooted and that there appears to be no lasting solution in sight.
According to him “In Nigeria we have two governments. One is collecting tax, the other one is collecting ransom. Both of them have one thing in common which is to make life difficult for their people.
The one that is collecting tax without doing anything will come and share you rice and semolina. The one that is collecting ransom is doing giveaway on social media.”
