Grammy award-winning Nigerian artist, Ayodeji Balogun, popularly known as Wizkid, recently made a bold statement about his relaxed approach to creating hit music.

In a viral video circulating online, the renowned Afrobeats star revealed that he recorded all of his chart-topping songs while sitting down, highlighting how effortless it is for him to make music that resonates with his fans.

According to Wizkid, his creative process is laid-back and stress-free, as he explained that he doesn’t go to great lengths to craft his popular tracks.

He mentioned several of his biggest hits, including *Holla At Your Boy*, *Soco*, *Joro*, and *Ojuelegba*, all of which were recorded while he was in a relaxed state. “You know, from *Holla At Your Boy* to *Soco*, *Joro*, *Ojuelegba*—I recorded all of them sitting down,” Wizkid disclosed, adding that he doesn’t put pressure on himself to create music.

Speaking to his longtime collaborator and producer, P2J, Wizkid gave further insight into his lifestyle in Lagos, noting that the atmosphere in his home is one of pure relaxation, which contributes to his effortless music-making process.

“You know how it is in Lagos, you’ve been to my house, you’ve seen how I do things. I’m just chilling, no stress,” he explained.

The *Essence* hitmaker went on to express his aversion to promoting his music and doing press appearances, admitting that he dislikes both aspects of the music industry.

“I hate doing promo and press,” Wizkid candidly remarked, emphasizing that he prefers to focus on creating music that directly connects with his audience. He believes that his understanding of what his fans want allows him to bypass traditional promotional efforts.

Wizkid praised producer P2J as one of the few people who truly understands his approach to music. He expressed how easy it is to work with P2J, noting that all they need to do is “turn on the mic” to create magic. “P2J is the only person who really understands me. We just need to turn on the mic, and that’s it,” he said.

Wizkid also touched on the evolving nature of the music industry, particularly the global reach of Afrobeats.
