Benin Defender Mohamed Tijani Out for Nigeria Clash
Benin Republic’s Cheetahs will be missing key defender Mohamed Tijani for their 2026 FIFA World Cup qualifier against Nigeria due to an ankle sprain sustained during training. Reports from the Cheetahs camp confirm that Tijani will not participate in the match, but the medical team is working to have him fit for their next game against Libya on Tuesday.
Tijani, who played a crucial role in Benin Republic’s 2-1 win over Nigeria in June, will be a significant loss for head coach Gernot Rohr. The Cheetahs are set to face the Super Eagles at the Godswill Akpabio International Stadium in Uyo on Saturday.
