Chaos in Ibadan as Petrol Tanker Explosion Destroys Multiple Vehicles

Panic ensued in the Iyana-Ajia, Egbeda area of Ibadan, Oyo State, after a petrol-laden tanker exploded, setting off a massive fire that engulfed several vehicles.

The explosion, which occurred near the ongoing Iyana-Ajia bridge construction on the Ibadan-Ife Expressway, has left the community in shock.

According to eyewitnesses, the incident involved a petrol tanker that caught fire, causing widespread damage.

Two articulated trucks, an 18-seater passenger bus, two commercial cabs, and three motorcycles were reduced to ashes by the intense flames.

By the time the report was filed, the tanker was still burning, while the affected vehicles had been completely destroyed.

Although the scene was chaotic and property was lost, there was relief as no lives were reported to have been lost in the incident.

Local residents, many of whom fled the scene in panic, expressed their fear and concern over the frequency of such accidents in the area.

Emergency responders were quickly alerted, and efforts to contain the fire were underway.

Firefighters and local authorities were working to prevent further damage, while security personnel ensured the safety of those nearby.

The Ibadan-Ife Expressway, which is a major route for travelers and commuters, experienced traffic disruptions due to the accident.

The explosion occurred in close proximity to the Iyana-Ajia bridge, which is still under construction, raising concerns about safety measures on the ongoing project.

It has been announced by the governor of Ogun that Tuesday 3rd of February is a public holiday in order to mark the 50th anniversary of the state creation.
