Ajuri Ngelale Steps Down as Tinubu’s Spokesman, Cites Health Reasons
In a statement released on Saturday evening, the presidency confirmed that Ajuri Ngelale has officially stepped down from his role as the spokesperson to President Bola Tinubu.
Ngelale, who had been a key figure in Tinubu’s administration, is reportedly taking an indefinite leave of absence due to personal and health-related reasons.
The statement emphasized that President Tinubu has accepted Ngelale’s decision with understanding and compassion, acknowledging the difficult circumstances that have led to this course of action.
The president expressed his sympathy for Ngelale, stating that the reasons behind his leave were legitimate and deserved respect.
Tinubu also extended his best wishes to Ngelale, both in regard to his health and his future endeavors, while underscoring the importance of respecting the privacy of Ngelale and his family during this period.
Ajuri Ngelale has been a prominent political figure in Nigerian politics, having served as Senior Special Adviser on Public Affairs to former President Muhammadu Buhari.
His role under Tinubu was seen as an extension of his deep involvement in Nigeria’s public communication sphere, where he was often praised for his articulate defense of government policies and swift responses to public concerns.
While the presidency refrained from giving further details on the nature of Ngelale’s personal or health challenges, his indefinite leave marks a significant change in the Tinubu administration’s media and communication landscape.
The public and media outlets have been urged to respect his family’s privacy as they navigate this period.
As Ngelale steps back, the presidency is expected to announce further adjustments or a possible replacement to manage its communications strategy moving forward.

Dele Momodu Regrets Spending ₦50M on PDP Nomination Form, Criticizes Monetized Politics
Dele Momodu, the publisher of Ovation Magazine and former 2022 presidential aspirant under the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), has expressed regret over spending approximately ₦50 million on the party’s presidential nomination form.
Speaking in an interview on Eden Oasis, Momodu described the 2022 PDP primary as heavily monetized and revealed that one of the candidates distributed $30,000 to each of the 774 delegates who voted during the election.
Reflecting on the influence of money in Nigerian politics, Momodu lamented the difficulty of competing with wealthy candidates.
He stated that he would only consider running for president again if there is a consensus among key political figures who believe he is the best person for the role. “Experience is the best teacher,” he said, adding that unless a major party adopts him as a consensus candidate, he would not pursue another run.
Momodu also emphasized the financial power wielded by some politicians, noting that they are able to distribute huge sums of money with ease, making it nearly impossible for candidates without vast financial resources to compete.
He described Nigeria’s political process as being driven by money, which he believes is often untraceable and hidden outside the banking system.
Despite his loss in the 2022 primary, where he did not secure any votes, Momodu remains vocal about the state of Nigerian politics and the impact of money on elections.

Nigeria Can Become Africa’s Aviation Leader – Festus Keyamo
The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, says Nigeria has everything needed to lead Africa’s aviation industry.
Speaking on Channels Television, he explained that Nigeria’s large population and high air traffic make it the best place for aviation growth in Africa.
“Nigeria is the most promising country in Africa for aviation, with the largest population and traffic. It is the best country to become an aviation hub,” he said.
Although the country still has infrastructure problems, Keyamo said Nigeria must attract private investors to fix them. He also announced plans to hold Nigeria’s first airshow to bring in global investors and promote the aviation sector.
Keyamo also talked about issues at airports, like passengers being harassed by security officers. He said his ministry had reported these problems to the National Security Adviser, who has provided 1,000 body cameras to monitor security officers’ activities.
