Eniola Badmus Applauds Tinubu’s Economic Shift Amidst Rising Hardship
Nollywood star Eniola Badmus has commended the direction of Nigeria’s economy under President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership.
According to her, the country is seeing a positive shift, with reduced imports and increased exports—a development she believes points to economic growth and a move from a consumption-based to a production-oriented economy.
Sharing her views on Instagram, Badmus highlighted that for the year-to-date in 2024, Nigeria’s imports amounted to N24.44 trillion, while exports hit N38.59 trillion.
This results in a remarkable trade surplus of over N14 trillion within just eight months.
She emphasized that this kind of surplus is unprecedented in Nigeria’s economic history, underscoring the country’s progress under Tinubu’s administration.
Her remarks come at a time when many Nigerians are facing significant economic challenges, with inflation and the rising cost of living sparking widespread concern.
Just last month, large protests, dubbed the ‘End Hunger Protests,’ saw millions of Nigerians voicing their frustrations over the worsening economic hardship.
Despite these struggles, Badmus remains optimistic about the direction in which the economy is heading, believing that the focus on increasing production over consumption is a crucial step forward for the nation’s long-term stability.
In her view, this shift is a sign of hope for the future, even as the country grapples with the immediate difficulties that many are currently facing.
She hopes that these changes will eventually translate into broader relief for Nigerians and more sustainable economic growth.
