Sani Urges Fines for PVC Holders Who Skip Voting

Former Kaduna Central Senator Shehu Sani has proposed that individuals who obtain their Permanent Voter’s Cards (PVCs) but do not participate in elections should face penalties.

He shared this suggestion on his official X account, emphasizing that such a measure could help combat the issue of low voter turnout that frequently plagues Nigerian elections.

Sani believes that imposing heavy fines on those who neglect their civic duty, despite being eligible and having collected their PVCs, would serve as a strong deterrent and encourage greater participation in the democratic process.

According to him, voter apathy remains a major challenge, and this approach could motivate more citizens to cast their votes on election day.

The ex-lawmaker’s stance reflects ongoing concerns about electoral engagement in Nigeria, where low turnout rates often undermine the effectiveness of democratic representation.

The Minister of Aviation, Festus Keyamo, says Nigeria has everything needed to lead Africa’s aviation industry.

Speaking on Channels Television, he explained that Nigeria’s large population and high air traffic make it the best place for aviation growth in Africa.

“Nigeria is the most promising country in Africa for aviation, with the largest population and traffic. It is the best country to become an aviation hub,” he said.

Although the country still has infrastructure problems, Keyamo said Nigeria must attract private investors to fix them. He also announced plans to hold Nigeria’s first airshow to bring in global investors and promote the aviation sector.

Keyamo also talked about issues at airports, like passengers being harassed by security officers. He said his ministry had reported these problems to the National Security Adviser, who has provided 1,000 body cameras to monitor security officers’ activities.
