Peter Obi, the former governor of Anambra State and 2023 presidential candidate, has extended his heartfelt wishes to the Islamic community in Nigeria and around the world as they celebrate Eid-El Maulud, the birth of Prophet Muhammad.

In a statement, Obi acknowledged the significance of this year’s celebration, noting that it comes at a time when many Nigerians are facing severe economic hardships.

Obi highlighted the immense challenges confronting the nation, pointing out that millions of Nigerians are currently grappling with economic difficulties, lack of access to basic healthcare, and the troubling reality of countless children being out of school.

He emphasized that these pressing issues weigh heavily on the nation’s conscience, serving as a reminder of the monumental task ahead in the pursuit of a more equitable and prosperous society.

Drawing inspiration from the teachings of the Prophet Muhammad, Obi urged Nigerians to embrace values of love, compassion, and kindness during these trying times.

He emphasized that the Prophet’s message calls for unity and empathy, urging everyone to be their brother’s keeper and extend a helping hand to those in need.

According to him, these values must be at the forefront of efforts to address the deep-rooted inequalities that persist in Nigerian society.

Obi called for a collective commitment to ensuring that no child is left behind in terms of education and that every family has access to essential healthcare services.

He stressed that these are not just political issues but moral imperatives that demand immediate attention and action from both leaders and citizens.

The former governor also used the occasion to encourage Nigerians to reflect deeply on the values that unite them, regardless of their religious or cultural backgrounds.
