Portable Laments After Meeting Obi, Says Tinubu Would Have Given Money

Controversial Nigerian singer Portable recently expressed disappointment after meeting Peter Obi, the 2023 Labour Party presidential candidate, during a visit to Edo State.
Portable encountered Obi in Benin over the weekend, where Obi was supporting the Labour Party’s gubernatorial candidate, Olumide Akpata.
At the same time, Portable was in town for a performance.
In a viral video circulating on social media, Portable is seen bowing and greeting Obi beside his car, showcasing his respect.
However, in a separate video shared later, the singer voiced his dissatisfaction, stating that Obi did not offer him any money during their meeting.
Comparing Obi to President Bola Tinubu, Portable told his crew that if they had met Tinubu, he believed they would have received some form of monetary gift.
He expressed his disappointment, saying, “Obi cannot give us anything. Obi didn’t give us anything. If it was Tinubu, he would have given us something.”
The incident quickly gained attention online, with fans and observers weighing in on Portable’s reaction.
While some defended his candid remarks, others criticized the expectation of financial rewards from political figures.
This encounter highlights the contrasting approaches of political leaders and the expectations of some individuals in the entertainment industry.

“Afrobeats Has Stalled” – Amaarae Hails Rema’s ‘HEIS’ for Pushing Boundaries

Ghanaian-American singer Amaarae goes viral after sharing her thoughts on the current state of Afrobeats, stating that the genre has stalled.
She expressed concern about how Afrobeats is becoming too repetitive and urged artists to experiment with new sounds.
“Afrobeats and African music need to evolve. It needs to evolve in a direction that is fearless, and I think right now artists have made so much money from a certain type of sound that they are afraid to step out of the boundaries because they are probably more focused on the financial aspect of it. And as a result, I think Afrobeats has stalled.”
The singer then gave an example, commenting on how Rema did just that with his recent album “HEIS”.
