The Presidency has firmly denied recent claims circulating in the media, alleging that President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has instructed the Governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria (CBN), Olayemi Cardoso, to step down from his position.

The rumours surfaced on various online platforms, which reported that the president had given a directive for Cardoso’s resignation.

In response to these reports, Bayo Onanuga, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, took to his verified X account, @aonanuga1956, to address the situation.

He dismissed the claims as entirely false, labelling them as “all lies.” Onanuga urged the public to disregard the misleading information, stressing that there was no truth to the rumours about Cardoso’s resignation.

The presidency’s swift reaction underscores its commitment to curbing the spread of misinformation and ensuring that the public receives accurate updates regarding the actions and decisions of the government.
