Military Vows to Crush Any Plot to Disrupt Edo Governorship Election
Chief of Defence Staff (CDS), General Christopher Musa, has issued a stern warning to individuals or groups planning to incite unrest before, during, or after the upcoming gubernatorial election in Edo State.
Speaking on Wednesday, the CDS emphasized that any such attempts to disrupt the election process should be abandoned.
General Musa made it clear that the military has been given a direct mandate from the President to maintain peace and ensure that the election in the South-South state is conducted in a free, fair, and credible manner.
He highlighted the military’s readiness to enforce stability and protect the integrity of the election, reassuring the public that the security forces would act swiftly against any threats to the electoral process.
Musa’s remarks are part of broader efforts to guarantee a smooth and transparent election, with the military playing a crucial role in maintaining law and order throughout the process.
The CDS stressed that any attempts to manipulate the electoral process or create chaos would not be tolerated, and the military is fully prepared to respond to such actions.
He called on all political actors and citizens to respect the rule of law and allow the will of the people to prevail.
With the election approaching, the military’s presence is set to reinforce the commitment to upholding democracy and ensuring that voters can exercise their rights without fear or interference.
