The Nigeria Police Force has arrested two political thugs during an overnight raid in Edo State.

Recovered from the suspects were three cut-to-size pistols and a locally made gun.

This operation, revealed in a statement by Force PRO ACP Olumuyiwa Adejobi, was part of efforts to curb electoral violence ahead of the elections.

The suspects, identified as Edwin Obanor and Audu Tajudeen, were arrested in separate locations, underscoring the police’s commitment to maintaining law and order during the election period.

Afrobeats star Davido, whose real name is David Adeleke, has shared why he’s deeply invested in the ongoing Edo State governorship election. Residents across Edo turned out in large numbers to vote, and Davido has been vocal on social media, accusing the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) of malpractice.

Addressing questions about his interest in the election, despite not being from Edo, Davido explained that his late mother, Imade Veronica Adeleke, was originally from the state. He also emphasized that, as a Nigerian, everyone should be concerned about electoral fairness. Davido recalled a similar situation during the Osun State election, when his uncle, Governor Ademola Adeleke, ran for office. Singer Davido has expressed confusion over a directive from the Nigeria Police Force instructing voters in Edo State to leave the polling area immediately after casting their votes.

The directive was issued by Deputy Inspector General of Police, Frank Mba, during an interview on Channels Television.
