Ekpa Gives Up Political Career in Finland to Pursue Biafra Independence

Simon Ekpa, a prominent Biafra activist and the self-proclaimed Prime Minister of the Biafra Republic Government In-Exile (BRGIE), recently declared that he has sacrificed his political ambitions in Finland to focus entirely on the fight for Biafra’s independence.
In a message shared on his official X handle, Ekpa revealed that for several years, his commitment has been singularly directed toward achieving Biafra’s self-governance, distancing himself from any personal or political aspirations outside of this cause.
Ekpa emphasized that his dedication to the Biafran struggle comes from a deep-seated belief in the need to liberate his people from what he describes as years of marginalization by the Nigerian government.
He stated, “There is nothing more sacred to me than the cause of freeing Biafra.” To demonstrate this commitment, Ekpa has decided to forgo participating in upcoming elections in Finland, a country where he has built a political career and gained considerable recognition.
Instead, he plans to continue focusing on the mission of Biafra’s liberation, explaining that his heart and efforts lie solely in achieving independence for his people.
For over a decade, Ekpa has served his community and region, particularly through his activism both in Nigeria and within the Biafra diaspora.
His strong ties to the movement have grown since 2012, when he first became actively involved in the struggle for Biafra’s autonomy.
His international profile has expanded, particularly since assuming a leadership role within the Biafra Government In-Exile.
This shadow government operates as a platform for Biafran advocates, pushing for recognition and independence from Nigeria.
Ekpa’s statement also comes amid rising tensions and his continued criticism of the Nigerian government.
He has been vocal in his accusations that the government is oppressing the people of Biafra, a sentiment shared by many within the Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) movement.
Despite his outspoken activism, Ekpa has faced threats of extradition back to Nigeria.
However, he remains undeterred and continues to advocate for Biafra’s independence.
The activist made headlines in July 2021 when Mazi Nnamdi Kanu, the leader of IPOB, was rearrested by Nigerian authorities.
Kanu’s detention has been a point of contention, with many calls for his release going unheeded.
The arrest has added fuel to the Biafran movement, with Ekpa taking on a more prominent role following Kanu’s capture.
Since then, Ekpa has pledged to carry the torch of the Biafran cause, pushing for the realization of their self-determination.
Adding a significant layer to his activism, Ekpa recently announced a major event slated for December 2, 2024, during which Biafra will officially declare its independence.
This declaration has captured the attention of supporters and observers alike, as the date draws near.
Ekpa’s unwavering determination continues to stir debates about the future of Biafra and Nigeria’s efforts to maintain unity within its borders.
As the movement grows, so too does the international spotlight on the Biafran cause, with Ekpa at the forefront of the struggle for independence.
His decision to sacrifice his political future in Finland highlights the personal costs he is willing to bear for the movement, solidifying his role as a key figure in the ongoing quest for Biafran liberation.

Deji Adeyanju Hails Atiku and Others for Dumping PDP to Unite Opposition

Activist lawyer Deji Adeyanju has praised top opposition figures for uniting to challenge the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 elections. Adeyanju commended leaders from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) and others for leaving the party to align with the African Democratic Congress (ADC), describing the move as long overdue.
Notable names like former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, ex-Senate President David Mark, former Jigawa Governor Sule Lamido, and others have dumped the PDP to adopt the ADC as their new platform to confront President Bola Tinubu’s government in the next polls. They’ve also called on other PDP members to join forces for what they describe as a collective push for change.
Reacting on Facebook, Adeyanju expressed excitement, saying it’s good to see the opposition finally working together. “I’m proud they’ve come together at last. Special appreciation to Atiku, Obi, and the others for setting aside personal interests to make this possible,” he wrote.
He further encouraged NNPP’s Rabiu Kwankwaso to join the alliance, saying this unity was exactly what the opposition lacked in the last election. “Whenever you wake up is your morning. Good morning to the opposition,” he added.

APC Clears the Air on Claims That Tinubu Is Angry with Ganduje Over His Resignation

The All Progressives Congress (APC) has reacted to rumours suggesting that President Bola Tinubu may have been displeased with Abdullahi Ganduje, the former Governor of Kano State, who recently stepped down as the party’s National Chairman.
There have been claims that Tinubu’s alleged dissatisfaction with Ganduje played a role in his resignation. However, APC’s National Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, dismissed those claims during an interview with Channels Television on Sunday, describing them as mere speculation.
Morka explained that only President Tinubu can personally address the matter concerning Ganduje if he chooses to. “The President is free to speak on any issue whenever he feels like it. He hasn’t said anything about this, so people are just speculating. But we don’t run on speculation,” Morka stated.
Last week, the APC confirmed Ganduje’s resignation, which took immediate effect. The official reason given was that Ganduje was stepping down to focus on “pressing personal matters.”
