Governor Adeleke Approves ₦3.3 Billion for Osun Retirees
The Governor of Osun State, Senator Dr. Ademola Jackson Nurudeen Adeleke, has once again demonstrated his commitment to the welfare of retirees by approving a significant sum of ₦3.3 billion for the payment of accrued rights to workers who retired under the Contributory Pension Scheme.
This move highlights the governor’s consistent effort to ensure that those who served the state are rewarded for their years of service.
Breaking down the allocation, ₦1.5 billion has been earmarked for retirees at the state level, covering various Ministries, Departments, Agencies, secondary schools, and tertiary institutions.
Meanwhile, ₦1.8 billion has been allocated to local government retirees, including those who served in junior and primary schools.
These funds are currently undergoing due process at the Bureau of Public Service Pension and the Local Government Staff Pension Board, ensuring that all necessary procedures are followed for smooth disbursement.
It is important to note that this approval comes in addition to the regular monthly pension payments and gratuities that the state already provides to retired public servants under the old pension scheme.
This consistent support from the government helps sustain the livelihood of those who have dedicated their working lives to the development of Osun State.
Governor Adeleke’s administration has placed a strong emphasis on the welfare of workers and pensioners, with this being a key component of his 5-point Action Plan. Since assuming office in November 2022, he has remained steadfast in fulfilling this promise, regularly prioritizing the needs of public servants and retirees across the state.
His administration’s proactive approach has not only reinforced the government’s commitment to its workforce but has also strengthened public trust in the state’s leadership.
By making these significant strides, Governor Adeleke continues to build a legacy of compassion and accountability, ensuring that the contributions of state and local government workers do not go unrecognized.
His unwavering dedication to improving the lives of all citizens, especially retirees, reflects his long-standing passion for service and his genuine care for the people of Osun State.
