Defence Headquarters Investigates Alleged Banditry Sponsorship in North-West
The Defence Headquarters (DHQ) has announced ongoing investigations into accusations of banditry sponsorship in Nigeria’s North-West region.
Major General Edward Buba, Director of Media Operations at the DHQ, confirmed the development during a press briefing on September 26, 2024, in Abuja.
The inquiry follows a public feud between Zamfara’s former governor Bello Matawalle and his successor Dauda Lawal, who have accused each other of supporting banditry.
Buba assured that relevant agencies are diligently investigating, while the military remains focused on defeating bandits and eroding their will to fight.

Obasanjo Looks Forward to Celebrating Oyedepo’s 90th Birthday
Former President Olusegun Obasanjo has expressed his intention to be present at the 90th birthday celebration of Bishop David Oyedepo, the founder of Living Faith Church.
During the recent 70th birthday celebration of Oyedepo, held at the Faith Tabernacle in Ota, Ogun State, Obasanjo noted that he would be 107 years old when Oyedepo reached this milestone.
In his address to the congregation, Obasanjo playfully acknowledged the stages of life, saying, “Today marks your entry into the club of Septuagenarians.
Soon, you will transition to being an Octogenarian, and I will still be here to celebrate with you.
Following that, you will become a Nonagenarian, and I assure you, I will also be here for that occasion.”
He humorously added, “After that, I will leave you to continue your journey, but rest assured that God will always be with you.”
Obasanjo also took a moment to reflect on his longstanding connection to Ota and the significant role that Oyedepo has played in the community.
He reminisced about his farming ventures in Ota, which began in 1979, emphasizing the deep-rooted ties he has to the area and its development over the years.
Through his remarks, Obasanjo highlighted not only the personal relationship he shares with Oyedepo but also the broader impact the bishop has had on the lives of many in the region.
