Joe Igbokwe: Hating Nigeria Will Hinder Your Progress
A prominent member of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Joe Igbokwe, has emphasized the importance of patriotism, stating that Nigerians who harbour hatred toward their country may struggle to succeed in their pursuits.
Igbokwe shared this message in a post on his official Facebook page as part of the celebrations for Nigeria’s 64th Independence Day anniversary.
In his post, Igbokwe urged Nigerians to appreciate and cherish their homeland, stating, “Believe that you hold a beautiful country in your hands.
Love Nigeria, and in return, Nigeria will love you back. Celebrate Nigeria, and Nigeria will celebrate you. Honour the nation, and it will honour you.”
He further expressed that those who choose to despise the country might find it hard to progress within its borders, adding, “If you hate your country, you may not find success here.
Nigeria will favour you just as it has favoured me.”
Igbokwe went on to praise Nigeria’s many advantages, describing it as the most resourceful and fortunate country on the African continent.
He highlighted the nation’s rich potential, pointing out its status as the most populated and educated country in Africa.
He also mentioned the nation’s abundant talent, favourable weather, fertile land, and stunning landscapes.
His comments come as part of broader reflections on Nigeria’s progress and the call for citizens to renew their commitment to fostering a united and prosperous nation.

“Rather than play the ostrich and cover up clear terrorism as mere farmer-herder clashes, the Nigerian state has a responsibility to invade the camps of armed marauders who hide under the cloak of herdsmen of whatever ethnicity, and who invade defenceless communities and gleefully massacre unarmed men, women and children.”
