“Bola Didn’t Make Himself President; We Did” — Osoba Urges Forgiveness for Tinubu
Former Ogun State governor Olusegun Osoba has urged Nigerians to overlook President Bola Tinubu’s shortcomings as he embarks on his second term.
Speaking at the All Progressives Congress (APC) South West Zone Assembly meeting held in Lagos, Osoba expressed his belief in Tinubu’s capacity to improve and fulfill his promises to the nation.
Osoba emphasized that the Yoruba people stand firmly behind Tinubu’s presidency, asserting their confidence in his leadership.
He remarked, “The Yoruba community is united in support of Tinubu, and we believe he has what it takes to deliver on his commitments during his time in office.”
He further highlighted that it was the collective decision of Nigerians that brought Tinubu to power.
“Bola didn’t just become the President of Nigeria on his own; we made that choice together as a nation,” Osoba stated, reinforcing the idea that the president is accountable to the people who elected him.
The former governor’s comments reflect a strong sense of solidarity among the Yoruba people, as they rally around their leader, urging the public to remain hopeful and supportive as Tinubu settles into his role.
With a commitment to a better future, Osoba’s message seeks to foster unity and confidence in the government as it navigates the challenges ahead.
Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State is set to officiate the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected local government chairmen today, Sunday, October 6, 2024.
The event will take place at the Executive Council Chambers located within the Government House in Port Harcourt, beginning at 4:00 PM.
The announcement was made public through a statement by Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the State Government.
This ceremony marks an important milestone for local governance in the state, as it follows the recent local government elections conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
In a significant outcome, the Action Peoples Party (APP) emerged victorious in 22 out of the 23 local government areas.
The impressive performance reflects the party’s stronghold and support within the region.
The official statement read: His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, will today swear in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4:00 PM.
The newly elected chairmen are expected to arrive early, with each allowed to bring one guest, and should be seated by 3:30 PM to ensure a prompt start to the ceremony.
This event not only signifies a transition in local leadership but also presents an opportunity for the newly elected officials to outline their plans and commitments to their respective communities.
As they assume their roles, they will be tasked with addressing local issues and fostering development within the state.
The Caretaker Committee Chairman of Port Harcourt LGA and Chairmanship candidate of the Action People’s Party (APP) expressed satisfaction with the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC) after casting his vote. He praised the smooth and organized voting process at Ward 18, units 14 and 15. His commendation of RSIEC signals confidence in the electoral body’s conduct during the local government elections, reinforcing hopes for a credible and transparent outcome.
