Governor Fubara to Swear in Newly Elected Local Government Chairmen Today
Governor Sim Fubara of Rivers State is set to officiate the swearing-in ceremony for the newly elected local government chairmen today, Sunday, October 6, 2024.
The event will take place at the Executive Council Chambers located within the Government House in Port Harcourt, beginning at 4:00 PM.
The announcement was made public through a statement by Tammy Danagogo, the Secretary to the State Government.
This ceremony marks an important milestone for local governance in the state, as it follows the recent local government elections conducted by the Rivers State Independent Electoral Commission (RSIEC).
In a significant outcome, the Action Peoples Party (APP) emerged victorious in 22 out of the 23 local government areas.
The impressive performance reflects the party’s stronghold and support within the region.
The official statement read: His Excellency, Sir Siminalayi Fubara, GSSRS, the Governor of Rivers State, will today swear in the newly elected Council Chairmen at the Executive Council Chambers, Government House, Port Harcourt, by 4:00 PM.
The newly elected chairmen are expected to arrive early, with each allowed to bring one guest, and should be seated by 3:30 PM to ensure a prompt start to the ceremony.
This event not only signifies a transition in local leadership but also presents an opportunity for the newly elected officials to outline their plans and commitments to their respective communities.
As they assume their roles, they will be tasked with addressing local issues and fostering development within the state.
