Suspended Rivers State Governor Siminalayi Fubara has praised the hardworking spirit and professionalism of the state’s workers, even as the state continues to face political turbulence. In a statement released for Workers’ Day 2025, Fubara described the workforce as the true driving force behind Rivers’ growth and a symbol of hope for better days ahead.

Speaking through his Chief Press Secretary, Nelson Chukwudi, the governor pointed out that this year’s Workers’ Day theme, “Ensuring Safety and Health at Work in a Changing Climate,” sheds light on the urgent need to protect workers as they navigate both environmental changes and political uncertainties.

He stressed that the health and safety of workers should be treated as a top priority if real development is to be achieved. Governor Fubara also acknowledged the Federal Government’s role—led by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu—in pushing forward labour reforms and adopting climate-aware policies that promote safer workplaces nationwide.

Despite the current political climate in Rivers State, Fubara applauded workers for their courage, dedication, and unshaken loyalty to their roles. He said their efforts continue to hold the state together during challenging times. He assured that his administration remains committed to ensuring that workers are treated fairly and that their rights are respected across all sectors.

Fubara called on employers to do right by their workers—not just by law, but by conscience—urging them to provide better working conditions that reflect human dignity. He wrapped up with a message of unity and hope, telling the people of Rivers State to stay strong, remain together, and believe in the power of justice and progress.
