Sam Pounds Holds Back Liam Payne’s Final Single to Honor Family’s Wishes

Published

on

Music producer Sam Pounds, who worked closely with Liam Payne on what would have been his last single, “Do No Wrong,” has decided to delay its release. Initially set to debut this Friday, the track will now remain unreleased until Payne’s family determines the right time to share it—if they choose to do so.

Pounds, a producer known for collaborations with stars like Jamie Foxx and Wiz Khalifa, announced on X, “Today I’m deciding to hold Do No Wrong and leave those liberties up to all family members. I want all proceeds to go to a charity of their choosing (or however they desire).” Pounds added that while he loves the track, he feels “it’s simply not the time yet” as Payne’s loved ones continue to mourn, saying, “We will all wait.”

Originally, Pounds had hoped the release could be a fitting tribute to Payne’s legacy. However, he later pulled back his posts about the single’s release, recognizing that the timing felt too soon after Payne’s tragic passing.

Payne, a beloved member of the former boy band One Direction, contributed to five chart-topping albums with the group and later pursued a solo career, releasing LP1 in 2019. His final project, a Netflix singing competition series called Building the Band, is also on hold as the music world and Payne’s family cope with his loss.

Liam Payne is remembered by his parents, Geoff and Karen, his sisters Ruth and Nicola, and his 7-year-old son, Bear.

“Rather than play the ostrich and cover up clear terrorism as mere farmer-herder clashes, the Nigerian state has a responsibility to invade the camps of armed marauders who hide under the cloak of herdsmen of whatever ethnicity, and who invade defenceless communities and gleefully massacre unarmed men, women and children.”
