The Ojude Oba holds great importance among the Yoruba people, especially within the Ijebu community of Ogun State in Southwest Nigeria. Annually held two days after Eid-El-Kabir, the Ojude Oba festival in Ijebuland, Southwest Nigeria, celebrates unity, heritage, and tradition. Revitalized and globalized under the guidance of Oba Sikiru Adetona, the Awujale of Ijebuland, the festival includes vibrant parades, traditional dances, and homage from over 100 age-grade groups (Regberegbes) to the Awujale.
The 2024 edition, themed “OJUDE OBA: Unity and Harmony, Our Gifts,” highlights its focus on communal harmony and cultural pride. Distinguished guests at the upcoming festival include Vice President Kashim Shettima, Governor Dapo Abiodun of Ogun State, and the Minister of Culture, Art, and the Creative Economy, Hannatu Musa-Musawa.
