Tinubu Postpones Executive Meeting to Honor Late Army Chief Lt. Gen. Lagbaja
President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, as the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces, has announced the postponement of the Federal Executive Council meeting that was originally scheduled for today.
The meeting will be rescheduled for a later date, which will be communicated to the public in due course.
This decision comes as a mark of respect and tribute to the late Lt. General Taoreed Lagbaja, the Chief of Army Staff, who sadly passed away on the night of Tuesday, November 5, 2024.
General Lagbaja has been serving the nation with unwavering dedication since he was appointed Chief of Army Staff on June 19, 2023.
His sudden death has left a profound impact on the Nigerian military and the entire nation.
His leadership, commitment, and exceptional service to the country, particularly in enhancing national security, will be remembered by both his colleagues and the public.
In honour of the fallen General, President Tinubu has also directed that the national flag be flown at half-staff across the country for the next seven days.
Earlier today, President Tinubu, alongside top officials, extended his deepest condolences to the family of the late General Lagbaja, as well as to the Nigerian Armed Forces.
In the message, President Tinubu described General Lagbaja as a remarkable leader whose efforts in strengthening the nation’s military and security framework will not be forgotten.
He prayed for eternal peace for the late General, acknowledging the invaluable role he played in the advancement of Nigeria’s defence and security systems.
