Grammy-winning Nigerian artist Ayodeji Balogun, better known as Wizkid, has shared the profound source of inspiration behind his music.
The globally celebrated afrobeats star revealed that women play a central role in shaping his creative process.
In a now-deleted post on X, Wizkid described women as “gods on earth,” emphasizing their pivotal influence on his artistry.
Wizkid has long been celebrated for his romantic melodies and lyrics that often highlight love and admiration for women.
His latest album, Morayo, is a heartfelt tribute to his late mother, Morayo Jane Balogun, who played a significant role in his life and career.
The album has made waves across the global music scene, setting new records and solidifying Wizkid’s position as one of Africa’s most influential artists.
Within six days of its release, Morayo amassed an astonishing 48 million streams on Spotify, surpassing the previous record held by South African singer Tyla, whose album recorded 46.4 million streams in its first week.
By the end of the opening week, Morayo had shattered another record, achieving a staggering 52.8 million streams—the highest ever for an African album on Spotify.
